  • Toyin Komolafe
  • BA.Hons (SEN)

    Masters(SEN)

    Background & experience

I have worked in the field of SEND for over 20 years, originally as a maths teacher , and then as a leader, advisor, senior manager in schools and local authorities. I am passionate about improving outcomes for every child and young person, helping them to overcome barriers to their learning and wellbeing.

From my experience, I have developed a reputation for successfully managing the most challenging classes/students and motivating/inspiring staff to help implement changes. This experience extends across early years, primary and secondary in both mainstream and special needs schools.

I have a Degree (BA Hons) and a Masters Degree in Special Educational Needs which gives me both a deep theoretical understanding of the applicable legislation, such as the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015, as well as the underpinning philosophies and the experience of applying this as I worked with parents, their children and young people, and fellow professionals.
I’m an SEN Teacher / SENCo with extensive experience of working with children who fall outside of the conventional patterns of learning; educationally, behaviourally or socially. Demonstrating a passion for these learners and always working to identify and support their unique specialist needs, she adopts a different teaching approach, by looking through the lens of sensory impairments.

    Previous experience

    • Teaching across all year groups within special school settings
    • Teaching pupils with moderate, severe and physical learning difficulties
    • Delivering CPD to colleagues on the subjects of autism and sensory processing disorders
    • Creating bespoke teaching resources and Programmes of Study to meet individual need
    • Developing a successful Nurture Classroom within a mainstream setting

  • Dr. Remi Odunsi
  • Med. MA (Autism)
